objectives

As a representative voice of women in new media, WiM offers diverse perspectives, critical commentary, and constructive strategies to influence the future of new media. In order to fulfill these objectives, WiM offers the following activities:

WiM 40+: A group focused on issues and challenges specifically relating to women over 40 who are involved or who want to become involved in new media/internet professions.

WiM Speakers Bureau For Girls: Women in new media and other high tech fields supporting girls aged 11-13 by devoting time to speak at middle schools. WiM works with girls at this vulnerable stage in their development to give them role models to whom they can look up to as they make their college and career decisions.

WiM events: Monthly networking meetings, speaker presentations and panel discussions.

Web site: Providing information about the industy, events, member written articles and commentary, networking opportunities with individuals and similar organizations.

Highlighting women: A press spotlight that focuses on pioneering women in new media.

Press base: Resources for the press that provide access to women involved in new media in order to encourage inclusion of women in press coverage of the industry.

Social events: Informal opportunities to connect and schmooze with each other and with others in similar fields.
